I have come to realize that every new years resolution I have ever made has never worked out. Why do we insist upon setting ourselves up for failure at the beginning of every year? There has to be a better way. In my search for this better way the universe presented an answer. A wonderful friend said instead of a New Years resolution why not try this, choose a word for the year. Sounds simple enough right? It is one of the most powerful yet difficult exercises I have ever participated in. Not one word came to me until I had answered a few questions. After I answered the questions listed below I finally came to "Freedom". Even typing this word now I feel empowered, comforted and most importantly free from my past, freedom from all decisions that others have made for me that I wouldn't have made for myself and free to be myself. Free to be as powerful as I can be. Upon saying this word I feel that the universe is here for me and that I can make anything happen.
I feel that my words are just to small to express what I am feeling so here are the questions to help you with a much more powerful and productive New Years Project.
1. Write down your word.
2. Why is this word perfect for you in this year?
3. If you embraced and lived this word every day what would be different for you?
4. In what ways do you already embody or live this word every day?
5. In what ways are you not living this word every day?
6. How would you live this word, and how would that make your life different?
Please try this empowering exercise. Living a word feels so much better than trying to deny yourself your favorite sweet treat or feeling disappointed in your self for not working out 7 days a week.
This exercise was brought to us from a great friend whose wealth of knowledge is a wonderful gift to the universe. Thank you Tammi.
